Welcome to the official Fletcher Munson Effect website, where you'll find information, latest news and mp3 samples from the London-based electronic musician. FME's music can roughly be described as IDM, but contains elements of chillout, breakbeat, rock and even jazz.

Fletcher Munson Effect is otherwise known as Dan Biggins, a musician, web developer and photographer living in the leafy suburb of East Dulwich in South London (or “Sarf London” to the locals).

Here's a brief biography of the musician known as Fletcher Munson Effect:

biography:

Dan's musical journey began on his eighteenth birthday, when his parents bought him an electric guitar. Years of practising / irritating the neighbours ensued, until Dan had reached a good standard of musicianship (in his humble opinion...ahem).

Musically, things took a more electronic bent when Dan went to university, where his ears were opened up to a whole new world of sounds, textures and rhythms. From LTJ Bukem, Prodigy and Chemical Brothers, Dan took a keen interest in all things electronic(a).

Upon graduating, Dan bought himself a PC, a cheap copy of Magix Music Studio and started composing and recording his electronic visions. The first efforts were rudimentary to say the least, but it was at this early stage that set the scene for things to come. The next few years were spent honing his craft, culminating in being awarded the Raw42 (RIP) track of the month for September 2004 with “Yesterday + Today = Tomorrow” (which is on the new album, incidentally, plug, plug).

After securing a lucrative web contract in the heart of London in 2007, Dan purchased an iMac, a copy of Logic Pro and set about recording the album, “We Are All Survival Machines”. Incorporating IDM, chillout, breakbeat, rock and jazz, this album explores the far reaches of the musical spectrum, and has also recently been accepted into the Pump Audio roster for licensing. Expect to hear it on a shampoo advert soon...or something.

Which brings us to the present day. “We Are All Survival Machines” is due for launch in the next couple of months, so contact me and I'll let you know when it's out.
